Yuzen Chiyogami

03May11

Yuzen/Chiyogami is a Japanese paper often used for the art of origami. It is typically mulberry paper with hand silk-screened repeated patterns sometimes embellished with gold. The patterns are often inspired by traditional designs though there is now a modern influence in many of the patterns.

Many of these patterns are for sale at http://www.hollanders.com/papers/ in Ann Arbor, MI. It’s a great store that I’ve visited once before.  I’ll definitely be going back next time I’m in the area.
