I really enjoy finding beautiful pottery. The only souvenirs I really enjoy are scavenged rocks, found paper and nice pottery. The website of Matt Hoogland is very outdated but shows some beautiful work.  He is obviously skilled in areas of pit-firing, raku and sawdust-firing.  These are all of great interest to me.  These are examples of some of my favorite elements in pottery. They take advantage of the rough and unpredictable qualities of clay, glazes and various firing techniques. I greatly prefer the rough touch of these to fine bone china or the like.

Like I said, the website hasn’t been updated in years but, for the sake of  documentation and due credit, here it is. Enjoy.
